Bring MediaFast's Reddit marketing tools into Claude Desktop and claude.ai as a custom connector. No API key, no code, just an OAuth sign-in with the Google account you already use.
Open Claude Settings, find Connectors (under Customize on Pro and Max, or Organization settings on Team and Enterprise), and click Add custom connector. Paste https://api.mediafa.st/mcp as the server URL and click Add. Sign in with your Google account when the popup appears and click Approve. Open a new chat, turn the connector on, and ask Claude to find subreddits or draft a Reddit post.
Looking for how Claude's writing quality compares for Reddit content? See Claude for Reddit marketing for that. This page is about connecting MediaFast's actual Reddit tools into Claude Desktop and claude.ai so it can find subreddits, draft posts, and check shadowbans against your own account, not just write generic text.
Claude can already write Reddit-shaped text if you ask it to. What it cannot do on its own is reach into MediaFast's actual Reddit marketing tools, since it has no way to know which subreddits fit your product today, what your account's shadowban status is, or what your MediaFast growth roadmap says. Connecting the MCP server closes that gap.
Once connected, Claude can call five tools on your behalf, scoped to your own MediaFast account and plan. Here is what each one does when you ask for it in plain language.
find_subreddits
Ask Claude to find subreddits that fit your product or audience, and it returns candidates worth posting or commenting in.
generate_reddit_post
Ask for a draft post for a specific subreddit and it comes back in a tone that fits the community instead of reading like an ad.
find_comment_opportunities
Ask where you could jump into existing threads and add real value, often a faster path to visibility than a new post.
check_shadowban
Ask whether a given Reddit account is shadowbanned before you invest more time posting from it.
get_growth_roadmap
Ask for a growth roadmap and get a plan for what to do next on Reddit based on your account and goals.
None of these post to Reddit for you. They find, draft, and check, you still review the output and post it yourself, the same way you would if you had opened the MediaFast dashboard directly.
A MediaFast account
The connector signs in with the same Google account tied to your MediaFast account and acts on your existing plan, not a separate login.
Claude Desktop or claude.ai
Custom connectors work on both Claude Desktop and the claude.ai web app. The settings path differs slightly by plan, covered in the walkthrough below.
Know your plan tier
Free plan accounts on Claude are limited to one custom connector at a time. Pro, Max, Team, and Enterprise plans allow more, and Team/Enterprise routes connector setup through Organization settings instead of personal Customize settings.
Unlike ChatGPT, Claude supports custom connectors on every plan tier, including Free. What changes by plan is how many you can add and who controls adding them.
| Plan | Custom Connectors | What That Means |
|---|---|---|
| Free | Limited to 1 connector | You can add MediaFast, but if a different custom connector already uses your one slot, remove it first or upgrade to Pro. |
| Pro | Multiple connectors | Connectors live under Customize > Connectors in your own settings, no admin approval needed. |
| Max | Multiple connectors | Same personal Customize > Connectors path as Pro, on top of Max's higher usage limits for the underlying model. |
| Team | Admin-managed | Only a Team Owner can add a new custom connector from Organization settings > Connectors. Members then connect and authenticate individually. |
| Enterprise | Admin-managed | Same Owner-only pattern as Team, usually with extra approval steps set by an IT or security admin. |
Connect once with your Google account, then ask Claude to find subreddits, draft posts, and check shadowbans for you.
This is the exact sequence, from opening Settings to your first working prompt. Every step happens on screen, nothing to install.
Open Claude and go to Settings
In Claude Desktop or claude.ai, click your profile picture or workspace name and open Settings from the menu.
Find Connectors under Customize (or Organization settings)
On Pro and Max plans, connectors live under Settings > Customize > Connectors. On Team and Enterprise plans, an admin manages connectors from Organization settings instead, so check there first if you do not see the option in your personal settings.
Click Add custom connector
Look for an Add more or Add custom connector button near the bottom of the Connectors list. This opens a small form asking for a name and a URL.
Name it and paste the MediaFast server URL
Give it a recognizable name such as "MediaFast Reddit," then paste the exact server URL below into the URL field. Leave the optional OAuth Client ID and Client Secret fields under Advanced settings blank, MediaFast handles OAuth automatically without them.
https://api.mediafa.st/mcpClick Add to start the connection
Claude reaches out to the URL and detects that it needs you to authenticate before listing any tools. This starts the OAuth 2.1 flow on its own, there is nothing else to configure by hand.
Sign in with Google when the popup appears
A window opens asking you to sign in with the Google account tied to your MediaFast account, the same one you already use for the MediaFast dashboard. No separate password or API key to paste in.
Click Approve to finish the handshake
After signing in, MediaFast asks you to approve Claude's request to act on your account through the connector. Click Approve and the popup closes, handing Claude a scoped access token behind the scenes.
Confirm the connector shows as connected
Back in Settings, the MediaFast connector should show a connected status. If it still shows a prompt to authenticate, click it again and repeat the Approve step.
Enable it inside a chat and ask for something real
Open a new conversation, click the tools or connector icon in the compose bar, make sure the MediaFast connector is toggled on, then ask a plain question such as "find subreddits for my product" or "check this Reddit account for a shadowban."
The MediaFast connector works the same way whether you use the desktop app or the browser. Here is what differs by surface and plan.
Claude Desktop
The desktop app supports both remote connectors like MediaFast and local MCP servers configured through a config file. For MediaFast, you only need the remote connector path, no config file editing required.
claude.ai (web)
The web app supports remote connectors the same way Desktop does, through Settings > Connectors. There is no local server option on the web, which is fine since MediaFast is a hosted remote server anyway.
Team and Enterprise plans
On these plans, connector setup usually happens once at the organization level by an admin, then becomes available to approve for individual members, rather than each person adding it separately.
On Team and Enterprise workspaces, adding MediaFast is a two-role process: an Owner registers the connector once, then each member connects their own account to it.
An Owner adds the connector once
From Organization settings > Connectors, a Team or Enterprise Owner pastes the MediaFast URL and adds it for the whole workspace, the same one-time setup individuals do on Pro and Max.
It appears with a Custom label for members
Once added, MediaFast shows up in each member's own Connectors list marked Custom, distinguishing it from Anthropic's built-in directory connectors like Google Drive or GitHub.
Each member authenticates individually
Members click Connect and go through their own Google sign-in and Approve step. The Owner adding the connector does not grant anyone else access to their own MediaFast account, each person authenticates separately.
If you are not sure whether your workspace is Team, Enterprise, or an individual Pro or Max account, check the plan name under Settings, since the Connectors path differs by that alone.
There are two ways to authenticate the MediaFast connector, and for Claude Desktop or claude.ai you almost always want the first one.
OAuth is the default for Claude Desktop and claude.ai
Add the connector URL, sign in with Google, click Approve. No key to generate or paste in. This is the path built for the regular Claude connector settings.
API keys are for developer clients like Claude Code
A bearer API key from Dashboard > Settings > API keys is available for developer-facing tools such as Claude Code, which run in a terminal with no browser to complete an OAuth redirect. If you are using Claude Desktop or claude.ai, you do not need this.
Both are scoped to your own plan
Whether you connect through OAuth or a bearer key, the connector only reaches the Reddit marketing tools your MediaFast plan already includes.
Claude Code runs in a terminal, so there is no browser popup for the OAuth flow that Claude Desktop and claude.ai use. This is the one client where MediaFast's bearer API key is the right tool, not an optional extra.
Generate a bearer API key
In the MediaFast dashboard, go to Settings > API keys / MCP and generate a key. It is shown once, copy it somewhere safe, and it can be revoked from the same screen at any time.
Add the server from the terminal
Run the add command with the HTTP transport and your key in an Authorization header, exactly as documented for any remote MCP server in Claude Code.
claude mcp add --transport http mediafast https://api.mediafa.st/mcp \
--header "Authorization: Bearer YOUR_API_KEY"Confirm the connection
Run /mcp inside a Claude Code session, or claude mcp list from the terminal, to confirm MediaFast shows as connected before you rely on it in a script or session.
This is an advanced path for developers scripting against MediaFast, not the default recommendation. If you just want Reddit tools inside a normal Claude conversation, use Claude Desktop or claude.ai with OAuth instead.
Connecting a third-party tool into an AI assistant reasonably raises the question of what it can actually see and do. Two facts are worth being explicit about.
The connector is scoped to your MediaFast account, not your whole Google account. Signing in with Google is how MediaFast confirms who you are, it is not handing Claude broad access to your Gmail, Drive, or anything unrelated to MediaFast.
Nothing posts on your behalf. Every tool the connector exposes finds, drafts, or checks. Publishing a post or comment on Reddit is a manual step you take yourself after reviewing what Claude returns, the connector cannot skip that review.
Once the connector is enabled in a chat, these are the kinds of plain-language requests that trigger MediaFast's Reddit marketing tools.
"Find subreddits where people are already talking about problems my product solves."
"Draft a Reddit post introducing my product to r/SaaS without sounding like an ad."
"Look through this subreddit for threads where I could genuinely add value and mention my product."
"Check this Reddit account for a shadowban before I post anything else from it."
"Give me a growth roadmap for getting my first traction on Reddit this month."
"Suggest three subreddits I have not tried yet that fit my niche."
Knowing which tool a prompt triggers, and roughly what shape the answer takes, makes it easier to ask Claude the right way the first time.
| You Ask | Tool Called | What Comes Back |
|---|---|---|
| "Find subreddits where my product's target users hang out" | find_subreddits | A short list of subreddit names, each with a one-line reason it fits, so you are not guessing which communities to try first. |
| "Write a Reddit post for r/Entrepreneur about my launch" | generate_reddit_post | A title and body written in that subreddit's tone, ready to copy into Reddit once you have reviewed it. |
| "Where in r/marketing could I reply and add real value" | find_comment_opportunities | A handful of live threads with context on why a genuine reply from you would fit, not a bare list of links. |
| "Is u/mybrand shadowbanned" | check_shadowban | A clear verdict on shadowban status, so you know whether to keep posting from that account or fix it before you post again. |
| "Build me a 30-day Reddit growth roadmap" | get_growth_roadmap | A sequenced plan tied to your product and current account standing, not a single generic tip. |
Solo founders
You are the whole marketing team. Instead of switching tabs to a dashboard, you stay inside the same Claude chat and ask for the next Reddit move.
Growth marketers
Running Reddit for more than one product gets messy. A connected Claude can pull subreddit ideas, draft posts, and sanity-check accounts without rebuilding the same workflow each time.
Developers already using Claude Code
If you already authenticate MediaFast in Claude Code with a bearer API key for scripting, you can also connect the same server to Claude Desktop with OAuth for day-to-day marketing work, they are separate connections to the same tools.
Anyone already living in Claude
If Claude is already your daily driver for research and writing, connecting Reddit marketing tools into it removes a context switch you were making anyway.
Across all of these, the pattern is the same. Tools like MediaFast turn the Reddit marketing steps you would otherwise do by hand into actions Claude can call directly, so the setup is a settings change, not a development project.
Most Reddit MCP servers you find on GitHub are thin wrappers around Reddit's own API. They read posts and comments well, but they hand you raw data and leave the marketing judgment to you. MediaFast is built the other way around.
No Reddit developer app to register. Open-source Reddit MCP servers usually need you to create a Reddit API application yourself and manage its rate limits. MediaFast's connector signs in with Google, nothing to register on Reddit's side.
Marketing tools, not just read access. find_subreddits, generate_reddit_post, find_comment_opportunities, check_shadowban, and get_growth_roadmap answer "what should I do next," not just "show me this thread."
Works the same across every Claude surface. The same https://api.mediafa.st/mcp URL connects to Claude Desktop, claude.ai, and Claude Code, so the setup you learn once carries over everywhere.
Nothing posts without you. There is no auto-post tool by design. Every draft comes back for your review first, which matters on a platform where an obviously automated post gets called out fast.
Most connection problems trace back to one of these six causes. Each one takes seconds to fix once you know where to look.
| Symptom | Likely Cause | Fix |
|---|---|---|
| Connectors option is missing from Settings | You are looking in personal Customize settings, but your workspace is on a Team or Enterprise plan where connectors are managed under Organization settings by an admin. | Check Organization settings, or ask a workspace admin to add the connector, then approve it for your own use. |
| Claude says you have reached your connector limit | Free plan accounts are limited to one custom connector at a time. | Remove an existing connector you are not using, or upgrade to a Pro plan or higher for more connector slots. |
| Clicking Add does nothing or shows an error | The server URL was mistyped, has an extra character, or is missing part of the path. | Retype the URL exactly: https://api.mediafa.st/mcp. Avoid copying it from a screenshot where a character could be cut off. |
| The Google sign-in popup never appears | A browser popup blocker silently closed the OAuth window before it could load, common on claude.ai in the browser. | Allow popups for claude.ai, then click Add again to restart the flow. |
| Connector shows connected but Claude says it has no tools | The connector was added but never enabled for that specific conversation, or you are in an older chat started before the connector existed. | Start a new chat, open the tools or connector icon in the compose bar, and toggle the MediaFast connector on. |
| Claude says the tool call failed | Your MediaFast plan does not include the specific action you asked for, or the OAuth approval expired. | Check your plan in the MediaFast dashboard, and if the connector shows disconnected, repeat the Approve step to refresh it. |
The connector setup does not change based on your MediaFast plan, the same OAuth steps apply whether you are on a free trial or paid. What changes is what the tools return once Claude calls them.
Free trial
A limited taste of subreddit discovery and post drafting, enough to see how the tools respond inside Claude before committing.
Paid plan
Unlocks the full set of tools, subreddit discovery, post and comment drafting, shadowban checks, and the growth roadmap, without trial limits.
No, not for Claude Desktop or claude.ai. The standard path is OAuth: paste the server URL, sign in with Google, click Approve. A bearer API key is only meant for developer clients like Claude Code that cannot open a browser for OAuth.
No. The tools find subreddits, draft posts and comments, check shadowbans, and build a growth roadmap. There is no auto-post tool, you still copy the draft and post it yourself on Reddit.
Yes. Connecting through Claude does not change your MediaFast plan. A free trial gives you a limited taste of the tools, and a paid plan unlocks the full set through the same connector.
The Connectors settings screen and the OAuth flow work the same way on both. The only real difference is where the setting lives if your workspace is on a Team or Enterprise plan, where an admin manages it at the organization level.
Model Context Protocol, an open standard that lets an AI assistant like Claude call external tools through a standardized client-server interface, instead of every integration being custom-built.
The setting inside Claude where you register an MCP server by URL, so the assistant can discover and call its tools during a conversation.
The authentication standard MCP connectors use to let you approve access without sharing a raw password or key. You sign in once and approve a scoped token.
A single token that acts like a password for developer tools. MediaFast supports one for advanced clients like Claude Code, but it is not the default path for Claude Desktop or claude.ai.
The moment inside a conversation where Claude invokes one of MediaFast's five Reddit functions, such as finding subreddits, instead of just generating text.
The boundary on what a connected tool can access. MediaFast's connector is scoped to your own account and plan, it cannot see or affect anything beyond what you could already do in the dashboard.
This page focuses on the MediaFast connector specifically. For the broader standard behind it, and for Anthropic's own documentation on connectors, these are worth bookmarking.

Common questions about the MediaFast connector setup.
In Claude, go to Settings, open Connectors (under Customize on Pro/Max, or Organization settings on Team/Enterprise), and click Add custom connector. Paste https://api.mediafa.st/mcp as the server URL and click Add. A window asks you to sign in with Google and Approve, and once that finishes the MediaFast connector is live. Enable it inside a chat and ask for something like "find subreddits for my product."
No. Writing Reddit posts with Claude on its own means typing a prompt and getting generic text back with no knowledge of your MediaFast account. Connecting the MCP server is different: it gives Claude access to MediaFast's actual Reddit marketing tools, subreddit discovery, post drafting, comment opportunity finding, shadowban checking, and a growth roadmap, scoped to your own plan.
No, not for the standard Claude Desktop or claude.ai connector. The primary path is OAuth: paste the server URL, sign in with Google, and approve access. Bearer API keys exist as an advanced option for developer clients like Claude Code that cannot complete a browser-based OAuth flow.
No. MediaFast's Reddit MCP server exposes five tools: finding subreddits, drafting posts, finding comment opportunities, checking shadowbans, and generating a growth roadmap. None of them post to Reddit automatically. You review the draft and post it yourself.
The most common cause is being in a conversation started before the connector was enabled, or forgetting to toggle it on for that chat. Open a new conversation, open the tools icon in the compose bar, and switch the MediaFast connector on.
Claude's free plan allows one custom connector at a time. If you already have a different connector added, you will need to remove it or upgrade to a paid Claude plan before adding MediaFast.
Claude Code runs in a terminal, so it uses a bearer API key instead of the browser-based OAuth flow. Generate a key from Dashboard > Settings > API keys / MCP, then run claude mcp add --transport http mediafast https://api.mediafa.st/mcp --header "Authorization: Bearer YOUR_API_KEY" to connect it.
Only a workspace Owner can add a new custom connector from Organization settings > Connectors on Team and Enterprise plans. Once added, individual members see it labeled Custom in their own Connectors list and connect their own MediaFast account to it.
